Some notes from my mentoring session with Rouzbeh.
duration/time/rhythm: think about where to pause, stay and when to move. expand/extend these out. the film has capacity to become a longer form Odyssey – an hour long
transitions: why do they all dissolve. the image needs cuts or make the dissolves longer – only use a few per season. this will impact the rhythm of the film.
disruptions: think about disruptions – black frame where sound continues and vice versa – visuals continue and sound stops.
voice: think about a voice over – perhaps of your discussions with mum over the topics of home, home home etc. think about 3 voices – me, mum and some other – unintelligible/alien voice – perhaps using reversed speech, an unambiguous voice.
editing: shift between the edited voice and unedited, the edited visuals and unedited.
scale: submerged within, from without and also a macro – the city – through sound or visuals.
space: move from the physical space to the inner psychological space to the
theme: a sense of death – a rebirth, a ritual, a transcendence to another space? an experience to an experience of these, also tied to ideas about home and home-home
