plunderphonics: invented by a composer, Canadian Composer called John Oswald. he plundered the internet to make music. at the time layering was done through analogue/hand methods.
the conceptual frameworks of the net – perspective: the net is essentially a global perspective. timeframe – the listener is the master of when and how many times to listen to something, when to stop it and at what point, how loud etc. the material frame – deciding this is challenging but best to focus on which aspects are at play on any given example.
Nebula.M81: software which is free to download and allows you to open raw data and reproduce it as a MIDI file and produces glitches.
Brain Opera by Tod Machover: this piece is an interactive walk in model of the brain. and became a way to create hyper-instruments and ways for users through the internet make interactions and manipulations to the music during performances so that is is always changing.
teleharmonium: using masts as transmission, Thaddaeus Cahill invented this instrument which was the earlies transmission machine of sound. the beginning of streaming in 1906.
Max Neuhaus: composer and avant guarde artist’s piece called Public Supply which allowed listeners to participate in the production of the work through the telephone – a collective endeavour.
